Apple’s forthcoming iOS 14 updates might let you pay by scanning QR codes that activate Apple Pay, giving you another way to utilize the company payment platform.
That means this attribute, which hasn’t been declared and we know about because Setup Mcafee went digging through iOS 14 code, may not see the light of day using the release later this year.
Setup Mcafee said it wasn’t able to get the feature to work, but it did find an image that appears to be instructing the user about how to use the feature.
And Setup Mcafee says it found the code for the attribute in a system API, which may indicate third-party programs could allow you to scan QR codes to make purchases using Apple Pay.
IOS 14 is still only available as a developer beta, and Apple regularly tweaks and changes to features in its software right up until it’s released to the public.
